People tend not to fully appreciate the importance and saturation of drivers within the modern world. Drivers, particularly truck drivers, have helped shape modern commerce by delivering goods to where they need to go and helping companies make the transition to online retailers. Their dedication and grit make e-commerce possible because of the incredible job they do hauling goods all over the country from warehouses.
As such, many people around the country simply don’t understand or grasp the incredible importance of the job trucker drivers do. In response to their importance, National Truck Driver Appreciation Week celebrates truck drivers all over the country. It’s a time when Americans can give their thanks and respect to the profession.
Celebrating Truck Drivers
This is the “official week” for Americans everywhere to recognize the hard work and perseverance it takes to help the country’s commerce move and shake every day of the year. There are nearly three and a half million truck drivers across the country, all helping deliver goods to where they need to go in a timely, safe, and responsible manner.
In addition, they help keep our highways and interstates safe by driving with caution and an eye toward safety and their fellow man. This year, National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is September 12th through September 18th. This is a great week to honor the drivers who constitute the backbone of the nation and keep its goods moving and in transit.
Truck Driving During the Pandemic
The week’s celebration will mean more than ever this year as well, because of the risk truck drivers are putting themselves through during the Covid-19 pandemic. The pandemic saw millions of workers across the nation furloughed or let go altogether but truck drivers kept working through the risks and instability of the virus’ rise and saturation of the nation.
Every day, truck drivers risked their lives in order to keep the nation moving, delivering goods to stores and directly to the homes of millions of Americans. They knew the risks and continued to preserve despite them, in a show of incredible courage and perseverance for the work they do. Essential workers were shown to be the clear lifeblood of America, and this was demonstrated again during the pandemic by truck drivers everywhere.
What You Can Do
You can celebrate in even the simplest and smallest ways this year. For example, you can create “I Heart Truck Drivers” signs or make some simple snacks for the delivery drivers in your area. Anything you can do to show your appreciation will be hugely appreciated by truck drivers who serve you and your community. No matter what you choose to do, this is the week to truly show your appreciation for the near 3.5 million men and women who drive trucks all across this great nation.
The National Truck Driver Association
Ordinary men and women are not the only ones showing their appreciation for truck drivers across the nation. The American Trucking Association is also showing their support by unveiling a new logo and opening an official National Truck Driver Appreciation Week online store on their site, to celebrate the week early this year. It’s a heartfelt and genuine show of good faith to truck drivers everywhere, whom The Association is incredibly proud and fond of.
The Association is glad to join in the celebration and the new logo which they revealed revels in this appreciation and salutation to truck drivers everywhere, both in America and in the rest of the world. The online store, which was recently launched, has also been stocked with hundreds of goods and paraphernalia which demonstrates the thanks to truck drivers. The store will sell banners, T-shirts, cooling bags, and other neat trinkets most Americans like to buy in to show their appreciation for the profession.
